TOEIC preparation

During the exam, a soundtrack plays continuously. You cannot stop it or rewind it.

Each dialogue or speech, and each question and suggested answer, is spoken only once. Familiarizing yourself with this constraint and adapting to the rhythm of the soundtrack is crucial.

In the "Listening" section of our preparation, you can:

  • put in “Exam” mode: you listen to the soundtrack under exam conditions
  • put in “Practice” mode: you can view the question script and take the test question by question

The "Practice" mode allows beginners to familiarize themselves with this test format. Depending on your level, we recommend starting with the "Practice" mode.

TOEIC Listening - Conversations

This section consists of several conversations. They last approximately 40 seconds each and deal with situations in which two people are talking to each other. For example, two colleagues are discussing an email sent by management.

For each conversation, 3 questions are asked. There are 30 questions in total, or 10 conversations.

Please note : The conversation will only be heard once. It is therefore important to practice listening skills and to stay focused.

We recommend listening carefully without translating every sentence. A general understanding will allow you to answer the questions.

More information on the strategy to adopt to answer these questions in our preparation.

TOEIC Listening - Speech

Using the same approach as the previous section, this time you will listen to 10 monologues. One person talks about a specific topic, such as a work method or an experiment.

For each monologue, you will then have three questions with four possible answers. You will then have to choose the correct answer.

The subject of the questions remains recurrent. They are generally questions about the theme of the speech, about details of the speech.

You'll find all the question types offered in the "Speech" section on PrepMyFuture TOEIC, as well as the strategy for this section and the pitfalls to avoid.

Attention You will only be able to listen to the conversation once. It is therefore important to practice listening well but also to know how to stay focused.

In conclusion , the Listening section is shorter than the Reading section. However, it requires continuous concentration. You must get used to following the rhythm of the soundtrack, which lasts 45 minutes.

To help your ear get used to it, we also recommend watching English-language TV series and movies. It's a fun and effective exercise.
