How does the TOEIC L&R adaptive (Multi-use Adaptive Version) work?
Adaptive TOEIC test procedure:
Each candidate first takes the first section of the Listening section. This unit is common to all candidates and therefore includes the same questions for everyone. Depending on the score obtained in this unit, the candidate is offered a second unit:
- Either the easy module
- Let the difficult module
This second unit therefore has a difficulty adapted to the candidate, depending on the score obtained in unit 1. The same applies to the Reading section of the test.
TOEIC preparation
Where to take the TOEIC L&R, adaptive version ?
Adaptive TOEIC sessions are currently not offered directly on the ETS Global website, but through the institution where you are enrolled. These may include:
- from an academic institution;
- a language school;
- a training organization.
It is possible to take the adaptive TOEIC L&R either:
- Online, from home.
- At an ETS Global partner training center. The institution you are enrolled in will send you a link to the site and an authorization code to allow you to begin the test (make sure you receive this information before the test begins).
Once you start the test, you have one hour to complete it.
Compatible devices for taking the test :
The adaptive TOEIC L&R can be taken on the following devices:
- Laptop
- Desktop computer
- Tablets
However, it is not possible to take the test on a smartphone.
5 tips for passing the test in good conditions .
1 - Be in a quiet environment to allow you to concentrate as much as possible.
2 - Make sure your device is fully functional and charged or connected to a charger.
3 - Make sure your device's volume is turned up.
4 - Make sure your device is compatible with all required versions:
Mac: Mac® OS X® 10.11 or later.
PC: Windows 8.1 or newer.
5 - Make sure to take the test on one of these browsers:
Internet Explorer® : IE 11 or newer.
Google Chrome : current version or previous version.
