LanguageCert LTE 2025 Test Practice

What is LanguageCert LTE ?

LanguageCert is a language certification recognized worldwide for the quality and rigor of its assessments. It allows everyone to have their language level officially recognized according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), ranging from A1 to C2. Are you starting a visa or immigration process in the United Kingdom or do you want to certify your level of Spanish? Find the detailed content of the tests on our page dedicated to preparing for the LanguageCert tests .

Among the certifications offered, the LTE is the version of the test that assesses general and professional English proficiency, from level A1 to C2. Intended for any non-native English speaker and recommended for those aged 16 and over, this test may be required to enter a university program, validate a diploma, or strengthen one's professional profile as part of a career advancement or job search.

All LanguageCert certifications are valid for an unlimited period of time. However, check the requirements of your institution or employer, as some may require a recent certification.

The LanguageCert LTE tests

All candidates take the same test and receive their level certification according to the CEFR scale (from A1 to C2), based on the results obtained. The LTE consists of three separate tests that can be taken individually or combined.

Listening & Reading (oral and written comprehension)

The test Listening & Reading assesses listening and reading comprehension, as well as mastery of English grammar and vocabulary. You listen to audio recordings (played twice) and read various texts (statements, short messages, emails, articles, etc.), then answer multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each question has three possible answers, of which only one is correct.

The Listening section is divided into 4 parts:

  • Part 1: choose the image corresponding to the descriptive statement;
  • Part 2: Choose the logical continuation of the conversation;
  • Part 3: choose the correct answer to the question following a short dialogue;
  • Part 4: Choose the correct answer to the question after a long dialogue.

The Reading section is organized into 4 parts:

  • Part 1: Choose the statement that corresponds to the short text (such as a telephone message, a sign, an email);
  • Part 2: Complete the gaps in the text by choosing the appropriate word (this part assesses your vocabulary);
  • Part 3: complete the sentence with the most suitable word (this part assesses your knowledge of lexical associations and collocations);
  • Part 4: Choose the correct answer to the question.

It comes in two versions:

  • LTE A1-C2 Listening & Reading, suitable for candidates at an advanced intermediate level (from level B2);
  • LTE A1-B1 Listening & Reading, designed for beginner candidates.

LTE A1-C2 Listening & Reading

LTE A1-C2 Listening & Reading can be performed:

  • on paper in an examination center with direct remote monitoring;
  • on a computer, either at the examination center or from home.

The duration and number of questions vary depending on the format selected:

On computer (adaptive)

The computerized test format has the unique feature of being adaptive: the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on your answers. A correct answer leads to more complex questions, while an error reduces the difficulty level. The system can thus accurately determine your level in approximately 25 minutes for listening comprehension and approximately 35 minutes for reading comprehension.

LTE A1-B1 Listening & Reading

The LTE A1-B1 Listening & Reading is conducted exclusively on paper, in an examination center.

The Listening section lasts approximately 30 minutes and consists of 32 questions divided into 4 parts:

  • Part 1: choose the image corresponding to the descriptive statement (8 questions);
  • Part 2: choose the logical continuation of the conversation (6 questions);
  • Part 3: listen to a conversation and answer questions (4 short conversations of 2 questions);
  • Part 4: Listen to a longer conversation and answer questions (2 conversations of 5 questions).

The Reading section lasts 40 minutes with 40 questions organized into 4 parts:

  • Part 1: choose the statement corresponding to the short text (8 questions);
  • Part 2: fill in the blanks by choosing the appropriate word (3 texts of 5 questions);
  • Part 3: complete the sentence with the most suitable word (7 questions);
  • Part 4: choose the correct answer to the question (2 long texts of 5 questions).

Writing (Written expression)

The Writing test assesses writing skills and mastery of English grammar and vocabulary. It can be taken on paper or on a computer, at the center or remotely. Within the allotted 60 minutes, the candidate must complete two parts:

  • Part 1: Write a short message (60-100 words). This guided activity assesses your ability to effectively convey requested information in a concise format (e.g., an email).
  • Part 2: Write a long text in the form of a report, an article or a brief report (200 - 250 words).

The candidate must write a report, article, or review on a current or professional topic. This guided test tests your ability to structure your ideas in a logical and coherent manner, while demonstrating a thorough command of the language.

Speaking (Oral expression)

The Speaking test assesses communication skills in a professional context: self-talk, expressing ideas and opinions, arguing, and exchanging points of view. It can be taken in person at a center or online. This test lasts 10 to 14 minutes and consists of three parts:

  • Part 1: Give and spell your name, indicate its country of origin, then answer three personal questions (2 to 3.5 minutes);
  • Part 2: based on the given mind map, start a conversation on a given subject, make a decision and justify your choices (3 to 4.5 minutes);
  • Part 3: After 30 seconds of preparation, speak for two minutes on a given topic, then answer follow-up questions (5 to 6 minutes).

Depending on your needs, you can choose to take all or some of the tests. Five certificates are available to meet different professional and personal goals:
