The TCF, Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF), is a test for people aged 16 and over whose native language is not French. It is intended for candidates with a professional, academic, or personal project who require an assessment of their French level.

Preparation for the TCF

TCF sessions are organized throughout the year by approved centers authorized to organize sessions depending on their availability.

The TCF approved center you choose will provide you with information on:

  • the dates of the sessions;
  • the registration procedure;
  • the place where the tests are taken;
  • the support for the award (on paper or on computer);
  • the price.

There are now several versions of the TCF to meet the different needs of institutions requiring the TCF ( The TCF rating ).

Depending on the version of the TCF that a candidate decides to take, the nature of the tests ( TCF tests ) , their duration and the number of questions may change slightly.
