What is TAGE 2 ?
The TAGE 2 (Test of Aptitude for Management Studies) is a selection test intended for Bac +2 students wishing to enter a business or management school course in a Bachelor's or Licence, in initial or continuing training.
It measures candidates' verbal skills, as well as their problem-solving and logical reasoning skills. TAGE 2 is developed and organized by the FNEGE (National Foundation for the Teaching of Business Management), which also designs the TAGE Post Bac, the TAGE MAGE, and the TAGE EXECUTIVE.

The TAGE 2 tests
They are presented in the form of multiple-choice questionnaires (MCQs). Lasting a total of 1 hour and 55 minutes, the test contains 70 questions divided into 6 subtests (10 to 15 questions per subtest). For each question, you must choose one correct answer from 4 options.
The skills assessed are divided into 3 areas (Language, Calculation and Logic). Each area has two subtests.
Domain 1: Language (subtests 1 and 4)
Subtest 1, called “Lexiphrase”, is divided into three parts:
- A part called lexicon including questions on definitions, synonyms, antonyms, lexical hierarchies, etc.;
- Another one is about intruders , in which you have to spot a word or group of words that is unrelated to the others;
- A test called sentence , which aims to assess your syntax and basic knowledge of grammar.
Subtest 4, called “Paratext”, consists of two parts:
- One called isolated paragraph : you must complete a text with gaps, ensuring that the whole is coherent (meaning and syntax);
- Another called text : you must complete several sentences relating to a complete text, ensuring the coherence of the whole (meaning and syntax), then answer questions on understanding and interpretation of it.
Domain 2: Calculation (subtests 2 and 5)
Subtests 2 and 5 focus on problem solving and measure your basic knowledge of mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mental calculation) at the level of the ninth grade, or even the tenth or eleventh grade depending on the questions.
Questions may concern the following knowledge: relative integers, decimals and real numbers, powers and square roots, percentages and proportions, systems of equations, properties of parallel lines (Thales' theorem) and perpendicular lines (Pythagoras' theorem), elementary properties of the triangle, the circle, the rectangle and the square, etc.
Domain 3: Logic (subtests 3 and 6)
Subtests 3 and 6 assess your reasoning ability.
In subtest 3 (double series), you must identify logical relationships involving the crossing of series made up of groups of letters or numbers (they are placed horizontally and vertically). From four possible answers, you must choose the correct group of letters or numbers that completes the series while respecting this logical relationship.
In subtest 6 (graphic data), you must identify logical relationships involving graphic series (3 boxes and a question mark), then choose, from 4 proposals, the element which completes it while respecting the logical relationship.
Understanding the notation
The final score is based on a total of 210 points distributed among the three skill categories:
- 90 for domain 1 (Language);
- 60 for domain 2 (Calculation);
- 60 for domain 3 (Logic).
As a reminder, the test is a 70-question multiple-choice quiz with four possible answers, only one of which is correct. While correct answers earn points, incorrect answers or no answers are not penalized.
There is no reference mark to achieve: schools or test banks that use TAGE 2 determine their own eligibility thresholds (some establishments may apply a weighting system and convert the final mark out of 20).
The results will be communicated to you within 15 days of taking the exam, directly to your personal account. The score obtained is valid for two calendar years (year N and year N+1). Therefore, if you take the exam in 2025, it is valid until December 31, 2026.

How to register for the exam ?
You can register for TAGE 2 directly on the designer's official website by creating a personal account. You must have a personal email address and provide your marital status information (make sure this information exactly matches the information on the ID you present on the day).
Next, select a date and location, checking the application deadlines set by the institutions in question. The final step is to pay the registration fees, which are €70 for sessions in France and €130 for sessions abroad.
It is also possible to register through the test bank (a platform that allows you to apply to multiple establishments at once) or through the establishment to which you are applying. In this case, contact the relevant organization directly to find out the registration procedures and upcoming test dates.
Where to take the test ?
It takes place exclusively in person. You can attend sessions organized by the FNEGE in France or abroad.
Sessions are regularly open in the cities of Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Nantes, Paris, Rennes, Rouen, Strasbourg, Suresnes, Toulouse, as well as in Martinique, Réunion and Sophia Antipolis.
Please note that you can apply a maximum of twice per calendar year, including once per semester (from January 1 to June 30 and from July 1 to December 31).
Why take the TAGE 2 ?
The TAGE 2 is a selection test required by many schools (ESSEC Business School, KEDGE Business School, Audencia, EM Strasbourg Business School , etc.) and test banks (ECRICOME TREMPLIN 1) to access their courses. It allows establishments to assess your verbal, calculation and reasoning skills, as well as some of your personal qualities, such as concentration or stress management. Its primary aim is to evaluate your potential to succeed in a management course.
Provided they are still valid, your results can be used for all your applications. You can therefore apply even if you haven't yet decided on your school. Finally, remember that you can take the exam twice per calendar year (once per semester). Schools only have access to your best score, which gives you the opportunity to progress without being penalized for a less successful first attempt.
Tips for passing the TAGE 2
It aims to assess your ability to think quickly and manage your time. Proper training will help you develop automatic reflexes to succeed on the big day.
To structure your preparation, start by determining a score objective consistent with the expectations of the establishments you are targeting.
Then build a regular revision schedule, initially devoting targeted practice to each of the six subtests. Once you're comfortable with the different question types, practice in real time with practice tests to simulate exam conditions. Take the time to analyze your mistakes in detail so you understand them and avoid repeating them on the day.
On the day, don't waste time on a difficult question. Each question is worth the same number of points. If you get stuck on a question, choose the answer that seems most logical to you, by process of elimination, and move on to the next one.
Before taking the exam, make sure you are in good physical and mental condition: the more rested and calm you are, the more effective your revision for TAGE 2 will be.
