What is the TAGE Post Bac ?

The TAGE Post Bac (Test of Aptitude for Management Studies) is a selection test intended for future students wishing to enter a business or management school at Bac +1 level, in initial or continuing training.

This test assesses various skill categories: verbal skills, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. It is not a knowledge test, but a tool that helps institutions assess your ability to pursue management studies.

Like the other versions of the test (TAGE MAGE, TAGE 2), it is organized by the FNEGE (National Foundation for the Teaching of Business Management).

The TAGE Post Bac exams

They are presented in the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ). The test includes a total of 40 questions divided into 4 sub-tests (with 4 answer options, only one of which is correct), for a total duration of 1 hour 20 minutes (20 minutes per sub-test).

The skills assessed fall into two main areas (Business Communication and Quantitative Analysis and Logic for Business), each area being divided into two sub-tests.

Area 1: Business Communication

Subtest 1: Comprehension

This first part of written comprehension assesses your ability to:

Explain the overall meaning of a text;
Identify explicit information;
Reformulate sentences to validate the meaning of the original message;
Perceive cause/consequence/goal relationships.

Subtest 2: Semi-guided production / Linguistic correction

This second part of written expression assesses your ability to reconstruct a summary (guided expression) and to produce a coherent text using propositions and/or explicit argumentative markers (guided production).

Domain 2: Quantitative and logical analysis for the business

Subtest 3: Calculation and Mathematics

The third part assesses your basic knowledge of mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mental arithmetic) at the ninth-grade level. The questions are formulated in everyday language and aim to test your ability to apply mathematical knowledge to real-life situations (by using a business case scenario).

Subtest 4: Reasoning and Logic

Still in the form of a business case scenario, the final section examines your reasoning, decision-making, and judgment skills. Finally, it assesses your ability to gather information by identifying a common criterion.

Understanding the notation

The final grade for the TAGE Post Bac is out of 200 points. The points are divided between the two skill categories: 100 points for the two subtests in Domain 1 and 100 points for the two subtests in Domain 2. Correct answers earn you points, while incorrect or missing answers are not penalized.

Your goal is to achieve the highest possible score. However, there is no benchmark score to aim for: each school or test bank is free to set its own eligibility thresholds (depending on the institution in question, points may be weighted and converted into a score out of 20).

Results are delivered to your personal account within 10 to 15 days after taking the test. The result is valid for the current year (year N) and the following year (year N+1). For example, if you take the test in 2025, the score is valid until December 31, 2026.

How to train for the TAGE Post Bac ?

It is not based on your knowledge of management or administration, but on your general skills in logical reasoning, calculation and your ability to understand and express yourself in writing.

That said, a TAGE Post Baccalaureate training session is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the test format. On the day, you only have 20 minutes per subtest: you must therefore learn to manage your time to improve speed and efficiency!

Other resources, such as official records, can also be useful to supplement your training.

How to register for the exam ?

Registration for the TAGE Post Bac is done directly on the official test website, by creating a personal account. To do this, you must provide a valid email address and your personal information, which must match the information on the identity document presented on the day.

Next, choose a session date and the preferred delivery method (in-person or remotely), taking into account the application deadlines set by the institutions you are applying to. Why take the TAGE Post Bac ?

Tips for passing the TAGE Post Bac

The TAGE Post Bac is a test that requires organization and concentration. Your training isn't about reviewing coursework, but rather developing reflexes to be quick and efficient on exam day.

Before you begin your preparation, set a target score based on the requirements of the institutions you are applying to.

Set up a schedule over several weeks, first working on the subtests one by one, then testing yourself under real exam conditions. Remember to systematically correct your mistakes to better understand them and improve.
