TOEIC 4-Skills 2025 Test Training
What is the TOEIC 4-Skills ?
The TOEIC 4-Skills (Test of English for International Communication) is a certification designed to assess the ability of non-native English speakers to communicate in English in a professional environment. Unlike traditional versions of the test, which separately assess listening and reading and speaking and writing skills, the TOEIC 4-Skills offers a comprehensive assessment of all four language skills in a single certification.
The test is mainly aimed at:
- To students applying to a program at a school or university requiring the test to enter training or validate a diploma;
- For professionals, employed or looking for work, who want to strengthen their employability.
Once obtained, the TOEIC 4-Skills is valid for 2 years.
The TOEIC 4-Skills tests
The TOEIC 4-Skills consists of four tests which correspond to the four skills tested:
- Listening ;
- Reading comprehension ;
- Oral expression ( Speaking );
- Written expression ( Writing ).
The oral and written comprehension tests are adaptive; the questions are adjusted based on the candidates' answers.
Listening
In this first test, you must listen to several audio recordings and answer 45 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with 3 or 4 possible answers, only one of which is correct. The test lasts 25 minutes and contains 4 parts:
- Describe a photograph (3 questions);
- Answer a question or statement logically (9 questions);
- Understanding a conversation (18 questions);
- Understand a short presentation (15 questions).
Reading comprehension
In this second test, you must read various documents and answer 45 multiple-choice questions. The test lasts 37 minutes and is divided into 3 parts:
- Complete a sentence (12 questions);
- Complete a text (8 questions);
- Understanding a text (25 questions).
Oral expression ( Speaking )
The oral expression test lasts 20 minutes and consists of 5 tasks:
- Read a text aloud (5 minutes);
- Describe an image (4 minutes);
- Answer questions (3 minutes);
- Answer questions using the information provided (4 minutes);
- Express your opinion on a specific topic (3 minutes).
Written expression ( Writing )
This final test lasts 60 minutes and is divided into 3 tasks:
- Write a sentence from an image (8 minutes);
- Respond to a written request, for example an email (20 minutes);
- Write an essay of at least 300 words on a given subject (30 minutes).
Understanding the notation
The TOEIC 4-Skills tests are scored separately on a specific score scale:
-
The Listening and Reading tests are each marked from 5 to 495 points, giving a total score out of 990 points (with a minimum of 10 points).
- The Speaking and Writing tests are each marked from 0 to 200 points, for a total of 400 points.
The test thus provides a detailed assessment of your English language skills, with independent scores for the four areas assessed. The scores obtained are then converted to the European CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) scale according to the minimum points required in the following correspondence table:
