How is the DELE graded?
How is the DELE graded?
For comprehension tests
Only one answer per question is correct. This allows for automatic correction of answers.
- A correct answer earns one point.
- An incorrect answer or no answer earns 0 points.
The maximum score that can be obtained is therefore equal to the number of questions in the test. Once the score is calculated, it is converted to a 25-point scale using the following formula:
For example, if a candidate scores 22 out of 30 on the reading comprehension test, their score on a 25-point scale for this test would be:
(22 x 25) / 30 = 18.3 points
For the expression and interaction tests ( written and oral ):
Grading is done by trained and accredited examiners. To assign a grade, they rely on two categories:
- The analytical categorical composed of several criteria. Each criterion is rated between 0 and 3 points.
- The holistic category (rated from 0 to 3 points)
Once the score has been assigned for each of the criteria and each category, an average is calculated to have a final score between 0 and 3. Then, in order to convert this score onto a 25-point scale, the following formula is applied:
For example, if a candidate scores 1 point in the oral expression and interaction test, their score converted to a 25-point scale will be as follows:
(1 x 25) / 3 = 8.33 points
Regarding the final DELE result:
The latter is communicated by email approximately 3 months after the written tests have been taken. The Cervantes Institute sends an email to candidates so that they can view their results via the Cervantes Institute's online portal.
At the bottom of the certificate, one of the following will be present: “APTO” (if you passed the exam) or “NO APTO” (if you failed the exam).
Conditions to be met to obtain DELE B1 and B2 :
For DELE B1 and B2, in order to pass the exam, it is necessary:
- To obtain a minimum score of 60 points out of 100 for the entire exam.
- To obtain at least 30 points out of 50 in each group of tests.
Here is an example of scores for the 4 tests:
If the candidate obtains the "APTO" mention, a paper diploma will be sent to the postal address provided by the candidate (so be sure to keep your postal details up to date with the examination center where you took the test).
