Duration of the DELF

The DELF ( What is the DELF? ) is a test whose content and difficulty change depending on the level chosen by the candidate. The duration of the different tests varies accordingly: the higher the level, the longer the test lasts.

DELF preparation

Listening comprehension:

  • A1: about 20 minutes
  • A2 and B1: about 25 minutes
  • B2: 30 minutes
  • DALF C1: about 40 minutes

Written comprehension

  • A1 and A2: 30 minutes
  • B1: 35 minutes
  • B2: 1 hour
  • DALF C1: 50 minutes

Written expression

  • A1: 30 minutes
  • A2 and B1: 45 minutes
  • B2: 1 hour
  • DALF C1: 2h30

Oral expression

  • A1: 10 minutes of preparation, 5 to 7 minutes of processing
  • A2: 10 minutes of preparation, 6 to 8 minutes of processing
  • B1: 10 minutes of preparation, 15 minutes of processing
  • B2: 30 minutes of preparation, 20 minutes of processing
  • DALF C1: 1 hour of preparation, 30 minutes of processing


DALF C2

The DALF level C2 has a different duration given that it combines oral comprehension and expression and written comprehension and expression in the same test ( What the DELF contains ).

Oral comprehension/expression: 1 hour preparation, 30 minutes processing
Written comprehension/expression: 3:30 a.m.
