The LanguageCert Test of English tests

Depending on which version of the test you choose, the LanguageCert Test of English has a format and scoring that differs slightly from one version to the next.

LanguageCert Preparation

Listening and Reading (A1-B1)

The test is paper-based, both for the Listening and Reading sections. Both sections are multiple-choice questions.

• Duration of the Listening section: 30 minutes.
• Reading part duration: 40 minutes.
• Total test duration: 1 hour 10 minutes.

The total score achievable (for these two sections combined) is 59. The score obtained corresponds to a CEFR level. The correspondences are as follows:

Listening and Reading (A1-C2)

The test takes place either:

• on paper.
• on a computer in an approved center.
• online, remotely.

The duration of the test depends on the format:

On paper:

• Listening – 50 minutes
• Reading – 1 hour 10 minutes.

On computer, in an approved center:

• Listening – 25 minutes.
• Reading – 35 minutes.

Online :

• Listening – 25 minutes.
• Reading – 35 minutes.

The total score achievable (for these two sections combined) is 100. The score obtained corresponds to a CEFR level. The correspondences are as follows:

Writing (A1-C2)

The test takes place either:

• on paper
• on a computer in an approved center.

The test lasts one hour.

Task 1 (60-100 words):
Write a short message. This task tests the candidate's ability to produce a short text that successfully communicates the required information. This is a guided writing task.

Part 2 (200-250 words):
Write a long text in the form of a report, article, or review. This task tests the candidate's ability to produce a text on a current or workplace-related topic. Candidates will need to demonstrate an advanced level of grammar and vocabulary while coherently organizing a long text.

The total score achievable (for these two sections combined) is 100. The score obtained corresponds to a CEFR level. The correspondences are as follows:
