What is the TEF test?

The TEF is a test to assess your level of French. It is an international benchmark test recognized by many institutions, particularly the immigration services of Canada ( Learn more about the TEF Canada ) and France. The test was created by Business French, a service of the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Preparation for the TEF

The TEF format

The TEF is divided into 5 independent tests. You choose the tests you wish to take based on your objectives (see the "uses" section below).

Practical information

You can take the TEF at any authorized test center. These centers are located worldwide. The multiple-choice sections of the test are generally administered on a computer. Test centers also have the option of administering the test in paper format. The written expression test is administered exclusively on paper. The oral expression test is administered by a TEF examiner in the form of a one-on-one interview.
