What the TEF contains
The TEF test ( What is the TEF? ) is a test which aims to assess the level of competence and knowledge in the French language of French speakers and those whose mother tongue is not French . The results can then be used as certification by Canadian and French immigration services for various purposes ( TEF Canada , TEF studies in France , TEF naturalization, TEFAQ).
The tests
The TEF consists of 5 tests , each assessing one of the skills mentioned above. These 5 tests are divided into two types of exercise: multiple choice questions and production exercises.
Multiple choice questions
- Written comprehension (1 hour): You must read and understand written material. There are 7 sections, each on a different text, for 40 questions in total. For each question, you will have 4 possible answers, with only one correct answer.
- Oral comprehension (1 hour): You must demonstrate your understanding of audio material. There are 8 sections, with 40 questions in total. Again, there is only one correct answer.
- Vocabulary and structure: You must demonstrate your mastery of vocabulary and grammar. You have 30 minutes to answer 40 questions.
For the multiple choice part, a correct answer is worth 1 point, no answer is worth 0 points and a wrong answer is worth no points.
