How to calculate your IELTS score?
This article provides a comprehensive explanation of IELTS scoring by test, as well as how to calculate your overall score.
1- The grading of the tests
Each IELTS test is marked between 0 and 9.
For each test, it is possible to have a round mark (e.g.: 5, 6, 7, etc.) or a mark with a half point (e.g.: 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, etc.).

2- Calculate your overall score
The overall grade is then obtained by averaging the 4 grades obtained in each test. It often happens that the average obtained is not a round grade, but the overall score must be:
- Let's have a round note
- or a grade with half a point.
The IELTS is then scored as follows:
- If you get an overall score of 5.875, then the overall score is rounded to the nearest half point, which is 6.0.
- If you get an overall score of 7.125, the overall score is rounded to the nearest half point, which is 7.0.
- If you get an overall score of 8.25, the overall score is rounded up to the next half point, which is 8.5.
