What are the differences between TOEFL and IELTS?

Although TOEFL and IELTS are two similar tests, there are 6 main differences between these tests:

The main difference between the TOEFL and the IELTS is the speaking portion. For the TOEFL, the candidate speaks into a microphone and the recording is sent to the examiner. For the IELTS, the candidate speaks directly to the examiner.

Another point: there are currently few IELTS test centers in France. This can be a deciding factor in your choice of test, which will depend on where you live.
