Rule change: levels are rising, so is your preparation
Changes to language requirements: new levels required as of July 15
The authorities have tightened the language requirements for obtaining various types of residence permits and French nationality.
As of July 15, the following changes apply:
- A2 level to obtain a multi-year residence permit (previously, no specific level of French was required)
- B1 level to obtain a long-term resident card (previously, A2 level was required)
- B2 level to apply for French naturalization (previously, B1 level was required)
